Making art for others and not your ego... !

You will never progress as an artist if you make art for yourself.

If you like to make art for yourself you may as well be in a prison cell painting away with no criticism and laughing insanely about how amazing you are. Sound silly.  It's pretty close to the truth. I never would have a career as an artist if it wasn't for listening to what people say aboutmy artwork.  Sure I always do it in my own style but it has been such a great journey to have had customers to ask for things that have been outside the norm or joining two of my artwork styles to make something new.
The countless compliments from your friends are something you need to take lightly. If your art is terrible,  friends will say it's good, if your art is good, they will say it's excellent. The best question to ask them is "What do you like least about it?"
I love constructive criticism.  You always need a tap on the shoulder in life to remind you to sit back and rethink things then just doing the same thing all the time.

Then of course you need to be proud of the piece yourself.....

..... What if this was your last artwork you made..... Yep, feel the pressure. That's how great work is made.  But that's for another post :)

Intro first post

Be patient... Like a fisherman.... Or an artist.  When I have the time I will get this blog full of thought on my art,  where I have been and where I'm going.

Much more soon.
